Fract – A Fractal Generator for Android

Fract is a fast, highly customizable, open source, free and ad-free Fractal Generator for Android (hosted on Google Play Store).

To explore fractals in more depth, this app allows custom functions, provides a 3D-look to fractals and allows custom, two dimensional palettes. For this purpose it contains an easy-to-use palette editor with import/export features. Furthermore, the image resolution can be freely configured.

For a quick start, Fract provides a list of Demos with a large list of fractal formulas and drawing methods. The fractals are calculated using an internal, Kotlin-alike programming language. A feature-rich Source Editor is also included in this app.

The aim of this program is to create beautiful fractal images and math enthusiasts will find a fun playground for all kinds of experiments. Even if you are less interested in mathematics, you will be able to enjoy this fractal explorer.

For starters you can watch a demo video of a zoom into the Mandelbrot Set that shows some features of Fract.

Fract and Fractview

Maybe you came here because of my other fractal app, Fractview. Fract is a re-implementation of Fractview in Kotlin with a different technical approach.

About me

My name is Karl and I live in Vienna/Austria with my lovely family and work as a Software Architect. I got my PhD degree at Vienna University of Technology on theoretical computer science. I was working in academia for some years, mainly in compiler-related topics and teaching. My knowledge and enthusiasm for compilers was very helpful in developing this app.

Support

If you like this app and appreciate open source and ad-free applications or just pretty fractals, you can support me at Ko-Fi.

Me and Fractals

I have been programming fractals for I guess 25 years or so and I love these mathematical monsters. Basically, Fract is the kind of app that I would want to use myself, and I hope to share this experience with as many people as possible. Because of this, Fract is ad-free and open source.

Thanks for your interest in my app!
